bullet Important update for Clinical Teaching Scholars, Clinical Teachers and Managers - June 2011

The Clinical Teaching Collaborative (CTC) is an innovative model of clinical education that partners the University of Calgary, Mount Royal University, Bow Valley College and Alberta Health Services. The expansion of nursing programs has created a shortage of clinical placements for nursing students and practical nursing students and a shortage of nursing faculty, including clinical educators available to provide clinical teaching and supervision for practicum courses. Together these partnering institutions have developed a sustainable clinical teaching model that aims to shift the way academic programs and clinical practice agencies work together by increasing both clinical teaching capacity and clinical placements for students.

The project will build upon existing linkages between the educational and practice arenas, will more effectively embed clinical teaching and practice within the service settings and will transform traditional practices for organizing clinical teaching in nursing education, in effect narrowing the gap between education and practice.

The Clinical Teaching Collaborative has been funded by the provincial government for a three year period.
